A “X-mas Cruise” with Our Team of Site Managers and Engineers

As a part of our year-end tradition, we visited Finland with our site managers and engineers. The “Christmas cruise” included a seminar reviewing the year’s goals, achievements, and the focus areas for the upcoming year.

This trip allowed our engineers and estimators to see how the numbers in Excel take shape in real-life structures. It was also a chance for teams from different projects to learn from each other’s work.

This year, we started with a guided tour by Peikko at the Keilaniemi Beam project, exploring the shafts and wooden structures. We also visited the Espoo Hybrid Arena, where we examined the civil-use of shelter spaces, sports halls, and rooftop swimming pool. It was delightful to see that our concrete structures were prominently showcased!

Our tour continued to the Laakso Hospital underground parking facility, where we explored technical shafts and intermediate floors. This project exemplified how our years of expertise in tunnel and underground construction came to life in a large-scale, high-responsibility project.

The cruise also featured the traditional “pikkujoulut” (team Christmas party), which we held this year in Helsinki’s popular Jätkäsaari Uusi-sauna, a unique urban sauna.

On the second day, we toured notable buildings in Jätkäsaari, including the 2014 Finnish Concrete Structure of the Year, Unity Stay Hotel, Woodcity 2 office building, and Jätkäsaaren Potkuri residential buildings. We concluded with a visit to the Kiasma (1997 Concrete Building of the Year) and Amos Rex (2018 Concrete Building of the Year) museums to admire their impressive concrete designs.
